Meet the Club

The Coding Club meets once a week in London. It is led and organised by Mr Campbell, a youth worker and professional programmer. He thinks computers are amazing and believes that with enough knowledge anyone can can produce programs that can do anything they can imagine. He loves sharing his knowledge and learning with the youngsters in the Club

Job: Programmer & Youth Worker

Club Status: Club Leader

Membership: 3 Years

Computing Hero: Charles Babbage – He is credited with coming up with the concept of a programmable computer.

Hobbies: Reading Science Fiction and Fantasy novels especially anything by Terry Pratchett; Writing Games Apps for mobile platforms; Trying out extreme sports (as long as they do not involve heights).

Favourite Video Game: Pikmin 2

Interesting Fact: Mr Campbell hosts amazing barbecues.


Jeff

Jeff

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 Years

Computing Hero: Bill Gates because when at school, he produced a timetabling program for the school and then made sure he was in classes with lots of girls.

Hobbies: Writing Python code; Gymnastics, Tai Chi and most ball sports; Jeff can often be found hanging around skateboard parks.

Favourite Video Game: Any Fifa football game.

Interesting Fact: Jeff can now climb a rope while keeping his legs out in the pike position..


Ayesha

Aeysha

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 Years

Computing Hero: Jonathan Ive the designer of the iMac, iPhone and iPad.

Hobbies: Social networking, blogging, reading and homework! Oh and all kinds of Middle Eastern dancing.

Favourite Video Game: Just Dance 3 on the XBox 360 with Kinect.

Interesting Fact: Ayesha says she loves her iPhone.




Hana

Hana

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 years

Computing Hero: Shigeru Miyamoto, the great Nintendo game designer.

Hobbies: Ballet; Playing on her 3DS; Having fun at Coding Club

Favourite Video Game: The Legend of Zelda

Interesting Fact: Hana's family house in London has Japanese tatami mats throughout instead of carpets.




José

Jose

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 years

Computing Hero: Alan Turing because he was the greatest code cracker of all time!

Hobbies: Reading especially Alex Rider books; Playing on his 3DS; doing tricks on his stunt scooter; Coding for too long (which is why he often looks sleepy!)

Favourite Video Game: Any of the Lego games – they are all so funny.

Interesting Fact: José can speak Spanish and English fluently.



Krysta

Krysta

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 years

Computing Hero: Tim Berners-Lee the inventor of the World Wide Web!

Hobbies: Skating, Skateboarding and BMX; At the week-end she plays street hockey; Learning to code.

Favourite Video Game: Tiny Wings, Mario Kart 7

Interesting Fact: Krysta's father was a famous Speedway racer in Poland before her family moved to London 7 years ago.




Leela

Leela

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 3 years

Computing Hero: Ada Lovelace the first computer programmer. She worked with Charles Babbage.

Hobbies: Puzzles, Maths and trying to write algorithms; Playing the drums.

Favourite Video Game: Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

Interesting Fact: Leela plays drums in her elder brother's indie band.




Olly

Olly

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 1 year 9 months

Computing Hero: Limor Fried, founder of Adafruit Industries which enables anyone to be an inventor.

Hobbies: Olly is not sure which he loves the most - wheelchair basketball or embedded programming!

Favourite Video Game: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Interesting Fact:Olly can do a wheelie across the whole length of a basketball court.




Madison

Madison

Club Status: Full member

Membership: 1 year

Computing Hero: Brittany Wegner, who developed a Global Neural Network Cloud Service for non invasively diagnosing malignant cancerous tumours at the age of 17! It successfully detected over 99% of malignant breast tumours in a test set. How cool is that!

Hobbies: Madison loves music, plays the clarinet and relaxes by climbing 15m indoor walls and occasionally mountains.

Favourite Video Game: Mr Campbell has got us all into playing Pikmin and I must admit, I really do love the pink flying Pikmin in Pikmin 3.

Interesting Fact: Madison is building her own 3D printer using a Raspberry Pi and parts from some old printers.
